Dr. Fred Arnold, III
Dr. J. Fred Arnold, III is the only dentist in Kentucky and one of 42 in the world to earn both Accredited member and Accredited Fellow status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD.com). This is the highest credential available and is recognized internationally as the gold standard. Dr. Arnold was elected to the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry as a board member by his peers in 2005. He also serves the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry as an Accreditation and Fellowship Examiner.
Dr. Arnold graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry as one of the top three in his class in 1984. He completed a general practice residency at the Wright-Patterson Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio in 1985. To insure his objective of providing his patients the highest quality dentistry possible, he averages over 100 hours of advanced continuing education a year, even though minimum licensure requirements are only 15 hours per year in Kentucky. Post graduate courses completed include those at Louisiana State University, the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, the Center for Esthetic Excellence, Fahl Art and Science in Aesthetic Dentistry, the Dawson Center, the Eubank Teaching Institute and the Kois Center.

According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) an Accredited member “has completed extensive training and education in cosmetic dentistry. In addition, this credentialed dentist or technician has successfully passed a rigorous Accreditation Board Examination and has demonstrated a very high level of technical skill and ability in cosmetic dentistry.”
Presently there is not an American Dental Association (ADA) recognized specialty in cosmetic dentistry, nor does Kentucky law recognize cosmetic dentistry as a specialty. However, in 1984 the AACD was formed by a group of forward-thinking individuals, dedicated to continuing education in the rapidly evolving field of cosmetic dentistry since it was not being taught in the dental schools. The AACD developed a credentialing process for cosmetic dentistry, which has become the standard of excellence in the field (aacd.com). Dr. Arnold is involved in teaching cosmetic dentistry techniques by lecturing at local and international dental meetings.
Cosmetic dentistry is not a sideline for Dr. Arnold. Many general dentists will dabble in some cosmetic dentistry from time to time. Dr. Arnold does cosmetic dentistry everyday and has performed thousands of porcelain veneers, which are the premier cosmetic restoration used in smile makeovers.
